PRIOR TO TREATMENT

 

¨      Do not tweeze, wax, use a depilatory or undergo electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated for 4 weeks prior to laser hair removal.

 

¨      Do not tan the areas to be treated for 4 weeks prior to treatment.

 

¨      Avoid using self-tanning products for 2 weeks prior to treatment.

 

¨      Do not use glycolic, AHA or Retinol products one week prior to treatment or 1 week after the treatment

 

¨      Do not have strong microdermabrasion two weeks prior to treatment

 

AFTER TREATMENT

 

¨      ICE THE AREA IF POSSIBLE OR COOL CLOTH. Some redness and swelling in the area is normal after treatment and may feel similar to a sunburn.  This should resolve within several hours to several days after treatment. As soon as possible ice the treated area and so through the evening or day until heat subsides.

 

¨      Apply a sun screen to the areas that might be exposed to the sun for at least a week following the treatment.

 

¨      Use polysporin cream not ointment,  any first aid products for burns and cool cloths as often as desired

 

¨      BE GENTLE & KEEP IT CLEAN: The area treated is delicate so treat it with care. Use a mild soap or cleanser. If pimples, crusting or scabbing occur use Do not pick scabs, crusting or any lesion. If you have open areas on your face don’t wear makeup on top to cover.  Only polysporin until they have healed.

 

¨      Avoid touching the area and if you do be sure to clean your hands before. Pimples can sometimes occur in areas where the hair is dense. 

 

¨      SHEDDING HAIRS: A few days after the redness etc. has faded you may notice small brown dots. These are treatment affected hairs.  They can take up to 3 weeks to come out of the body.  You can assist the process by using a dry face cloth or soft loofah or even shave them out.

 

¨      AVOID THE SUN: To avoid pigmentation it is vital to wear sunscreen in the treated area daily, minimum of SPF 25 with both UVA & UVB filters for 4 weeks. Avoid the sun while undergoing treatments.

 

¨      WATCH WHAT YOU USE ON YOUR SKIN: Avoid irritants (glycolics, retinoids etc.) for seven days after treatment.

 

¨      DO NOT OVER HEAT THE AREA TREATED: Do not soak in a hot bath or hot tub until skin has returned to normal.

 

¨      Avoid workouts where you will perspire – it will result in itchy, irritated skin.

 

¨      If you develop any areas that appear to be infected (red, oozing, painful) you need to let the clinic know and contact your doctor or go to emergency.
